Adaptation of employees from abroad
A large number of employees at the Polish branch of the company come from abroad. In order to facilitate their adaptation process in the new country, a decision was made to prepare for them a training course presenting Poland in a nutshell. The training was to include the most interesting and useful information about the country and, above all, to give them tools and tips helpful in the process of adaptation to the new work environment.
AstraZeneca is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. In Poland, it employs 1 600 people from various countries.

Training in English
For AstraZeneca, we prepared a short, friendly training course in English: „A guide to Poland”. The built-in map allowed the participants to freely navigate the guide, choosing the topics they were interested in.
Broad subject matter
Apart from information on Polish history, culture, and customs, a large part of the training was devoted to social aspects and studies on the work environment in Poland in comparison to other countries, relations between employees, attitudes to procedures, social relations, and business etiquette.
Adaptation process in the new country
The training also briefly discussed the phases of the process of adaptation to the new country as an element of psychological support in this new life situation.
ARCS model
The training was designed based on the ARCS model – we included clear graphics, interactions, and many interesting facts and links taking the participants to additional information.
Result
Foreign managers received a clear handbook, which made their work in the new country and environment much easier. Apart from general background information on the history, geography, language, or climate, they were provided with many tips on how to function in the Polish work environment and how to manage a team of employees.
